Searching MAX -- Instructions and tips
Accessing Mayovox and SMNB -- Instructions and tips
Use MAX to search for descriptions or "finding aids" of holdings related to your interests.
A Finding Aid describes the scope and content of a group of Records or Papers, and
provides an inventory/box list—usually at the folder title level—of the materials
contained in that collection. It also includes:
- Biographical or historical information about the collection
- Narrative description of the collection
- Lists of important subjects and people that can be found in collection materials
Most collections exist in hard copy only. A small but increasing number of MAX records include
digital copies of item/s described in a record. However, these linked files are not available on the
External version [non-Mayo computers; those without Mayo VPN] per Mayo IT Security requirements].
Use of most collection materials still requires a scheduled visit to the Archives on Plummer 3.
MAX is regularly updated with additional records.
Contact the Archives staff to schedule an appointment or for assistance.
